The Kitchen Witch Chronicles

Must Be The Reasons Of A Witch

I’ve been absent in so many ways for far too long this winter.

A confirmed Fibromyalgia diagnosis has me questioning so many aspects of my life.

Aside from the syndrome that has been with me my whole life I now am crashing into the aging process.

I believe this list would benefit any person:

Positive Thoughts

Stress Reduction

Exercise

Nutrition

Sleep

Water

This list is not meant to be considered in order of importance as all aspects are related and are equally crucial to well being.

Wouldn’t you think that taking care of ourselves would be the easiest part of living? Why is it so difficult for us to acknowledge the importance of sustaining and nurturing ourselves?

Why is it easier to down a soda instead of a glass of water?

Why do we accept treating ourselves badly in so many ways?

I don’t have answers, just a day by day thought-filled awareness of walking the proper path one step after another. It is a lifestyle change that encompasses every choice.

Return of the blogging witch

I’ve been away from my blog for a couple weeks, and it feels good to get back to it. I appreciate that you have continued to check in with my site though nothing new has been added.
I’m still a bit shocked that we are in the middle of November and the holidays are approaching fast.
I have a lot of photos still in my camera to upload and lots to write about.
It seems I also have some blog housekeeping to do. A few of the photos have been removed – not intended – and I will have the site fully functioning as soon as possible. Thank you for visiting Five Element Arts!

What do YOU Do?

Brussel Sprouts

Ahhh…I always stumble when face to face with that question and a stranger on the other end of those words.

I have no pat answer, and my mind fumbles through my possible choices…

Today I am a writer.

Yesterday I was an elder-care worker.

Next week I will probably fit being a Dog-walker between Baker and Landscaper.

Now I have an answer to the what-do-you-do question…

I’m a blogger!

Blogging For Bliss – Tara Frey

Tara Frey’s book Blogging For Bliss is a must have.

This book has been so helpful to me  when I wasn’t even sure

what a blog was, much less how to make it a personal and creative chronicle.

I have added this to my Favorite Book List.

Star of Morning

How Do I Post?

I’m a fly-by-the-seat-of-my-pants kind of blogger. I may get an idea and I’ll snap out a few lines to get a thought down, as I am doing now, when I should be downstairs helping with dinner. I didn’t know what a Blog was until June of 2009. Yes…a couple, two or three months ago (depending on when this is published plus a great tie in to my category heading called A Couple Two or Three…but I digress). I like to have draft posts and unpublished photos in my media library to draw on when I don’t have a topic off the top of my head. My goal has been to post at least three times per week, but I’ve been doing more….dinner’s ready…gotta go.

Black Truffle Tortellini

Well, that was delicious…I’ve been posting regularly since my site went live, but I did do research by reading books about Blogs. I will be listing them at a later time. It gave me more confidence about what I want to do with my Blog. Maybe more importantly, I learned what I don’t want to do on my Blog. You won’t find rants against the establishment, political slamming or religious bias. I just get up everyday and try to find some beauty, learn something new, and feel that in some small way that I have had a voice…though..technically I guess that would be a podcast. Oooo. I like that idea! Check back again…

One Heart

Quince Blossom

I showed my mom my Blog the other day. I had my homepage open on the screen when she walked in the room. She didn’t understand what she was seeing, but I tried to explain my purpose – without much  conviction – and I demonstrated how each category photograph slides into a full view when the cursor  moves over it, and by clicking she could access my posts under these different categories. I could see I was baffling her even more.

I wrote about you and Dad,

I said as I opened my post titled Mom and Dad. I printed out the post so she could read a hard-copy (I know she can’t read on dark backgrounds, yet I insist on having a black theme). I stood beside her, on edge,  trying to read my mother’s response.

She giggled. To what I don’t know, but she read on and at another point she giggled again. Towards the end she leaned into it. More focused. When she finished she turned to me, looked me in the eye, and gave a curt nod. Not enough for me, I had to ask what she thought of it. Mom looked down at the last page and said out loud,

One form, one destination, one heart.

She looked at me again.

‘Nough said.
