Heirloom Apple On The Tree Photo

Along the crumbling stone wall,
beyond the back fields,
grows the persistent remains of an old Apple Tree
with ripening newborne fruit on ancient gnarled branches.

There is a special enjoyment that is derived from camping. I’m not talking camping with hot showers and MSNBC on your flat screen in your RV, I’m talking about sit-around-the-campfire, Coleman lanterns, Marshmallows burning on whittled sticks, and the laughter of family punctuating the night air.

The glow of firelight on a child’s cheek, the settling into your seat as fire-cooked food settles in contented stomachs and the lightheadedness from fresh air and simple joy brings a smile to your face.
The stars are brighter in the black velvet sky and the calls of Owls and Coydogs pierce the silence of the night reminding us of our fear of the unknown in the dark.
By dawn, the cold has settled around the sleeping, making them aware of the thin stretch of cloth between their bedding and the crisp greying of day.
The sounds of morning activity signals the start of another meal being prepared around a campfire. The snapping of the kindling in harmony with the sounds of tent zippers and yawning, disheveled campers emerging from their lairs.
We circle around the fire again.

As my father says, “Still holding on…” Original 1840’s boards on the barn at my parents home in Maine.

The Bleeding Hearts are blooming! The bobbing yellow heads of Daffodils have been seen all across town. Magnolia trees are in full coronation of flowers. The Quince bush is aglow with blossoms and the harsh yellow of Forsythia slashes through the landscape. Yet, it was 29 degrees F this morning. Maine.
Recent events have led to the uncovering of a Pine and Cedar forest on the coast of New Hampshire. The stumps among the beach rocks and sand at Jenness Beach have attracted the curious from around the region to witness a sight not seen for nearly forty years.

I wasnt able to get a clearer set of tracks to photograph but I thought the long toes were great. This photo is from February.
I’ve been absent in so many ways for far too long this winter.
A confirmed Fibromyalgia diagnosis has me questioning so many aspects of my life.
Aside from the syndrome that has been with me my whole life I now am crashing into the aging process.
I believe this list would benefit any person:
Positive Thoughts
Stress Reduction
Exercise
Nutrition
Sleep
Water
This list is not meant to be considered in order of importance as all aspects are related and are equally crucial to well being.
Wouldn’t you think that taking care of ourselves would be the easiest part of living? Why is it so difficult for us to acknowledge the importance of sustaining and nurturing ourselves?
Why is it easier to down a soda instead of a glass of water?
Why do we accept treating ourselves badly in so many ways?
I don’t have answers, just a day by day thought-filled awareness of walking the proper path one step after another. It is a lifestyle change that encompasses every choice.
